A birthday filled with sound and climbing spirit – Charly celebrates his 60th

On Saturday, November 22, 2025, our chairman Reinhard Meyer – better known as Charly – celebrated his 60th birthday. And as is typical of Charly, it wasn't a small, intimate affair. No, he naturally invited the entire wind orchestra, his climbing friends from Haslach, as well as family and friends to the foyer of the town hall. Go big or go home! The evening began with a stylish champagne reception, accompanied by our musical serenade. Vice-chairman Michael Joos presented our gift to Charly and flowers to his wife Bea with practiced ease – almost as if he did it every Saturday.

Then the buffet was opened, and it was truly something special: so lavish, so tempting, that even the musicians fell silent. A rare natural phenomenon – almost as solemn as during a concert when everyone is absolutely still during the intermission. But the evening had even more to offer. Our colleague Martin Schmider presented a clever guessing game in which Charly had to discover what the musicians who rose from their seats for each of the ten questions had in common. Charly mastered the task brilliantly.

After this warm-up round, Charly himself got into quizmaster mode. His own quiz combined questions about the town band and the climbers – a sporty-musical competition to find out which of the two groups had the greater stamina. The questions were sometimes tricky, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, sometimes quirky, but always a loving look at the two clubs in which Charly is passionately involved. And in the end? There were no winners or losers – only one great realization: that good friends are more important in life than any score, any summit reached, and any perfect performance at a concert.

Dear Charly, we wish you all the best and many more years as chairman, active musician, and passionate all-rounder. Here's to many more shared heights – musically and in mountaineering!
